In the United States, low back pain is one of the most common conditions and one of the leading causes of physician visits. In fact, at least four out of five adults will experience low back pain at some point in their lives. The causes of low back pain can be very complex and there are many structures in the low back that can serve as the source of the pain.
Max Well's therapists begin with a complete back evaluation, testing for possible problems with all the structures of the back. The information collected during the initial evaluation will be used to develop a personalized plan of care which may involve ultrasound, e-stim, mechanical traction and/or therapeutic exercises which serve to increase core muscle strength and flexibility as well as improve spine mobility.
It is also our philosophy to incorporate hands-on manual therapy which includes massage, soft tissue mobilization, myofascial releases, trigger point releases, craniosacral releases and manual stretching. The results of manual therapy include decreased muscle pain and improved flexibility.
Patients are then able to continue daily activity and exercise with correct body alignment and less pain. Upon completion of Max Well's back care program, the patient will be armed with the skills necessary to prevent future injury and sustain a healthy way of life.
